Solway Precast awarded Workington paperboard facility contract

Supply contract to biomass power facility in north-west England.

Solway Precast is pleased to have been awarded the contract to supply precast concrete beams, columns, floor slabs and wall units to the Biomass unit at Workington in the north-west of England. 

The concrete units will form a precast concrete frame to the new turbine, electric and boiler buildings on the site.  The mass of the units will vary from 1 tonne to 67 tonnes.  Specialist cast-in items have to be sourced from Finland and are an integral part in the formation of the building structure.  The overall package is for around 2,000 m³ of concrete.

This contract follows a similar successful project with the same management team who were employed at Caledonian Papermill, Irvine, in 2008.
