Garlaff, Heathfield and Southhook sites achieve re-certification
Barr Environmental's Garlaff, Heathfield and Southhook sites have just achieved re-accreditation to ISO 14001:2004 during the final BSI audit of the three year cycle at Garlaff on 17th November 2011. Auchencarroch will be next for re-assessment in December.
The ISO 14001:2004 standard is an Environmental Management System, which is implemented to ensure that the company minimises harmful effects on the environment caused by its activities, and to achieve continual improvement of its environmental performance.
ISO is the International Organisation for Standardisation and it's the world's largest developer and publisher of international standards.
The sites first achieved certification to the standard in September 2005 and a schedule of audits carried out internally and externally ensure continual improvement and compliance. Barr's external audits are carried out by BSI (British Standards Institute). To ensure compliance and continued accreditation to the standard, BSI audit the sites annually and over a three year cycle cover all aspects of the standard to ensure compliance prior to renewal of certification.
Well done to all at Garlaff, Heathfield and Southhook for achieving re-certification.
