When landfilling in a particular area is complete, Barr Environmental carries out a full programme of works to restore the land to a state that is an improvement over what was originally there; this can be from either an environmental or community perspective.
Habitats are created for plant and animal species that would not normally be found in the area due to disturbance from previous activites, for example agriculture, which in turn enriches the biodiversity value of the location.
Landfills can also be restored to provide recreational facilities such as golf courses and public parks, planted for forestry, or utilised for farming.
Barr Environmental undertakes a consultative planning process prior to carrying out restoration works to ensure that community needs are addressed. Finalised proposals are designed to ensure that they blend naturally into the surrounding landscape.
